The Fumb

Ultimately, I know what I’m doing and why I’m doing it. I’m trying to be a construction worker. I’m trying to make things. If people are not interested in that, fine. I just don’t give a damn. Truth is, right now two bombs could drop out of the sky and blow up this house and whatever building you’re in and just obliterate Dischord and Pitchfork. And there’ll be some people crying, there’ll be some slow singing, but for 99% of the world, it won’t even affect the fly on their soup. Most of the world never have, or ever will hear of me, Fugazi, or Pitchfork. Right now, someone just got killed in Ukraine. Do you feel any different?

We all have a desire to be seen a certain way. We all fight more battles within than without. We all watch as time passes us by silently. We all have regrets. We all want to do extraordinary things before we’re done. We all want to be a poster boy for something. We all want to believe in something worth dying for.

We all want to weave our story into the fabric of history. We all want to be….a symbol.

All the examples I have been given have been of incredible men. Men of immense genius, legendary vision, unfathomable courage and a will to conquer them all..

But what about the average man? Can he not succeed? Is his life fruitless? How then, do you measure the worth of an average man’s life?

Im not a genius. Im not amazing in any sense of the word. Examples of great men don’t hold any water with me.

Show me a talentless average guy who did it right…that would be something I might actually learn from.
